Previously Published Research

Previously published items are made available in accordance with the copyright policy of the publisher. An Open access copy is only available in ResearchSpace if it complies with the copyright holder/publisher conditions. Members of the public may be able to link to the publishers full text. if the publisher has allowed open access. You will recognise the author's right to be identified as the author of this thesis, and due acknowledgement will be made to the author where appropriate. The following conditions of deposit apply to items in ResearchSpace. If you agreed to a consent process for deposit of your thesis then these consents take precendence.

Access Restrictions for Theses

The default option for PhD theses is Open Access - this means it is freely available on the Internet. Some authors have placed conditions on access to their work and the following restrictions may apply:

  • Access by request - The title, abstract and table of contents are available online for public access but the full document is only available by request and this information is recorded. After 1 or 2 years the thesis is made available as per Open Access.
  • Restricted Access - The title, abstract and table of contents are available online for public access but there is no access to the full document. Users may request to see the print copy of the thesis either in person or request an Interlibrary Loan, details Access Instructions. After 1 or 2 years the thesis is made available as per Open Access.
  • No Access/Embargo - There is no access to the digital version, it is a preservation copy in the Closed PhD collection. Please tell us how long to apply this restriction.
