Abstract:
Reflecting upon personal memories of places, the project begins by making one model each day for 100 days. It is an investigation into the relationship between memories of the everyday and the act of designing. It explores the idea that everyday experiences have a profound impact upon the design process. At the same time, the act of designing transforms the memory and the reality of everyday existence into something that is novel. Through the process of retrieving a memory to make each model, a mentally constructed city that is filled with fragmented moments of everyday life is discovered - a city of memory, perhaps. This book tells a story of that city.
