Abstract:
Within the context of Restoration politics, the Progressive liberal agenda supported by Acuna had been marginalized by a more conservative Moderate liberalism, which sought pragmatic compromise and the strengthening of the middle classes rather than the proactive incorporation of the lower classes within a sovereign people.
