Abstract:
Law into Action Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in Aotearoa New Zealand is a comprehensive reference work for lawyers, policymakers, activists and all those interested in the history and protection of economic, social and cultural rights in New Zealand. The book explores “New Zealand’s work in implementing the rights enshrined in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights from both an international and national context …as well as their specific relevance to a number of disadvantaged groups” - Rt Hon Sir Anand Satyanand. The book is divided into four parts and twenty chapters, which cover: the origins and framework of economic social and cultural rights; the difficulties in getting recognition of those rights; the delivery of those rights to different groups in New Zealand; and the institutions and organisations that are responsible for promoting and protecting those rights.
