Abstract:
The article examines the results of a survey which asked members of the Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers (ANZASW) about their perspectives on and their practice of counseling in social work. Most of the respondents deemed that social workers who only did counseling were also doing social work and that counseling was included within the brief of social work in many fields of practice. Also, majority of the participants did not believe that social workers should not be involved in counseling.
