Abstract:
Previous scholarship on narrative pedagogy for Piitaiao (Maori-medium science) education is reviewed and applied in analysing existing Ptltaiao texts which address the nature of science. A novel use of narrative pedagogy for teaching and learning about the nature of Piitaiao, employing stories taken fi"om the history and workings ofscience, seems more likely to succeed than previous attempts to narrativise science content. This critique of existing Piitaiao texts highlights some cautions to be kept in mind in the process of producing new teaching and learning resources for Piitaiao education.
