Abstract:
Introduction A signal–response system is one where the function of the system requires a response variable to take different values as a result of changes in the signal factor. How well the system performs is determined by the characteristics of the relationship between the signal factor, M, and the response, Y . A number of different types of systems fall into this classification as illustrated by the following three examples.
