dc.description.abstract |
Smoking prevalence is estimated to increase worldwide with the greatest increases in developing countries. This will equate to millions of smoking-related deaths annually. Tobacco control is crucial if this rise in prevalence is to be halted. Smoking cessation makes up an important component of a comprehensive tobacco control program, and is a very cost-effective life-saving intervention. The field of smoking cessation is growing and there are a number of effective treatments available to smokers who wish to quit. To provide the best help for people who smoke, health-care professionals need to be well informed on the key treatment components of smoking cessation. |
