dc.description.abstract My doctoral research findings suggest significant pedagogical changes need to take place in classrooms in order to open up students’ expressive and participatory opportunities and provide students with a rich linguistic environment in was a strategic decision. SET is a well-established research resource for teachers, widely distributed throughout New Zealand schools, is also of interest to parents, and reflects current educational practices and thinking. An article in SET has higher probability for widespread dissemination of research findings to teachers than arguably any other research journal. My article was revised after a peer review. The article focused particularly on the quality of quantity of expression by five and six year old students during classroom lessons and described core optimising linguistic and interactional patterns to enhance students’ expressive capabilities. Responses to the article by teachers have foregrounded the worth of research dissemination of this kind. en
