Reading aloud to students is an essential component of a good literacy programme and all literacy programmes ought to have dedicated separate read-aloud time. The term reading aloud, when used in this article refers to the teacher reading aloud to students within a dedicated read-aloud time. After instructional reading, reading aloud is the next most important reading strategy that we ought to be emphasising to student teachers and classroom teachers. |
