This thesis is a comparative analysis of the two works: The 1942 film To Be or Not to Be, directed by Ernst Lubitsch and the 2008 play remake of this film, To Be or Not to Be, by British playwright Nick Whitby. The content of the two pieces will be compared and analysed with respect to their differing media, as will their (re-)working of the story, the reception of the two works and their success/failure. |
