Abstract:
Infection of Chinese cabbage protoplasts with TYMV in vitro
Mesophyll protoplasts suitable for the studies on TYMV replication could be isolated from Chinese cabbage within 1.5 hr by a sequential treatment with Macerozyme and cellulose solutions in 0.55 M mannitol. Optimum conditions for isolation and inoculation of the protoplasts in vitro were determined for Auckland conditions. A high frequency of infected protoplasts could be obtained consistently throughout the year.
