Abstract:
Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) face a trade off between the project they are currently undertaking, and fundraising for future projects (or stages of the current project). Fundraising has typically been modeled as a result of competition (Aldashev and Verdier 2010, Feigenbaum 1987). While that might hold for domestic NGO's, it may not hold for international NGO's. In particular, Nunnenkamp and Ohler (2010) find that there is no correlation between competition and fundraising levels in international NGO's.
