Abstract:
This chapter explores the foundations of contemporary understandings of disability as a dimension of human difference. It highlights the effects of ableist assumptions about disability on education.It examines the shifting socio-political influences upon education in Aotearoa/New Zealand. It suggests some productive ways educators can respond.
