Abstract:
In this article we describe the development of a new qualification in Early Childhood Education,Pasifika. We present an indigenous Tongan and Maori critique that challenges the consulation process and methodological content of the new qualification. The notion of FetuiakiMalie is drawn upon to debunk the mainstream notion in education that culture is static, passionless, superior and universal.
