Abstract:
Short term variations in the amplitude of radio signals received after reflection from the ionosphere have been studied in various ways for some time. The main lines of study have been concerned either with bearing changes and the associated phase and amplitude variation or with the effect of various diffracting screens and the resulting mixture of specularly reflected and scatter rays. There are numerous situations where both approached are applicable.
