Abstract:
Works inclueded in: PX: A purposeless production/ A necessary praxis, a group exhibition curated by Dr Leonhard Emmerling, currently head of Visual Arts Division, Goethe Institute, was part one of a two-part exhibition, part two curated by Dr Jan Bryant. A purposeless production has its background in modernist discussion about painting. The exhibition surveys artists whose works deal with issues concerning the status of contemporary painting. The exhibition featured works of important national artists: Judy Millar, Simon Ingram, and preeminent international artists, Gerhard Richter (Germany), Paul McCarthy (USA), Katharina Grosse (Germany) and Imi Knoebel (Germany).
