Abstract:
Background: An adjusted Framingham Heart Study CVD risk score is used in New Zealand risk management guidelines for assessing CVD risk, by adding 5% to the calculated 5-year risk for Maori, Pacific or Indian patients and for those with identified family history of premature CVD. It also reclassifies those with extreme blood pressure (>170/100 mmHg) or cholesterol (TChol or TChol:HDL ratio ≥8.0) as >15% risk.
