dc.description.abstract The article presents the text of the speech by Auckland University's Associate Professor Stephen Hoadley given at the 2013 East China Sea Peace Form in August 2013. It talked about the economic benefits of the Law of the Sea wherein the owners are entitled to the fish, hydrocarbons, and minerals in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The tensions between Japan, Taiwan, and China and joint resource development agreements were also discussed. en
