Abstract:
Part.(y) reconnoiters the minor characteristics of the artist through a critical engagement with the expanding fields of contemporary choreography. Informed by Deleuzean theory and Moana philosophy this practitioner–led inquiry explores minor approaches to choreography, invoking an open questioning of dance and performance practice. This project traverses a range of performative research methodologies, choreographic actions and embodied practices developed through studio-‐based laboratories. Here, promiscuity and fragmentation are proposed as key methods of experimentation. This study presents its excavations through a trilogy series of performed events entitled: de Parted, The danced particle and 3rd Party fire & Theft. This research has found that a minoritarian trajectory has import for a volatile field that continues to mutate with new proliferations across artistic, cultural and philosophical terrains.
