This study would not have been completed, had it not been for a lot of assistance from various sources. I take this as an opportunity to extend my gratitude to all of those who have contributed to the completion of this thesis in any manner large or small. I wish to express my gratitude to my mentor and supervisor Dr. Raj Das for providing me the opportunity to undertake this research project under his guidance. I would also like to thank him for his valuable reviews, suggestion and his caring mind throughout the duration of this project. His encouragements always boosted up my interest and helped me cope up with the not so vastly studied topic of bio-mimetic adhesions. I would like to thank Callaghan Innovation, Research Center, Auckland where I completed my thesis study, for providing me with the state of the art resource facilities and an inspiring and conducive environment where my thoughts and ideas took the shape of models and simulations covering all aspects possible for the subject studied and researched. I would also like to thank my Co-Supervisor Dr. Emilio Calius at Callaghan Innovations for his valuable suggestions and timely help by bestowing his vast knowledge and experience on the subject through-out the project. He has been a continuous source of inspiration, stimulation and encouragement leading to the successful completion of my thesis study. Last but not the least; I am always grateful to my almighty, my mother, father, family and friends for their constant support and guidance. |
