Abstract:
In a world of ever changing Internet infrastructure and an increasing usage of Voice over IP (VoIP) services, measurements must be made to determine whether VoIP service quality is improving or degrading. With the Internet being comprised of many small, modular networks, changes to infrastructure happen in isolation leading to potential unintended consequences. The main objective of this thesis is to present analysis tools for measuring VoIP service quality atop the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). Using data collected by the International Internet Beacon Experiment (IIBEX) we produce long term data, providing insights into VoIP service quality for various countries and links.
