Abstract:
For decades NZ teachers have been told the virtues of linking with the community. Involving the community is seen as a way of supporting and ensuring authentic learning. Yet in 2003 an extensive survey of teachers found this not to be occurring. This paper will document the emphasis placed on linking with the community and possible reasons why teachers are not supporting this notion.
