Abstract:
The purpose of this chapter is to give an account of the range of experiences reported by forty-one parents and grandparents in five unpublished student theses. These accounts illustrate families’ attempts to obtain educational services and support for their children with identified learning difficulties in New Zealand schools. These parent voices offer a commentary on the effects of the legislative changes to the administration of education in New Zealand and the setting up of the policy Special Education 2000 during the first decade of the 21st century.
