dc.description.abstract Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and rheology were used to determine correlations between extrusion processing parameters and curing behaviour of a low temperature curable powder coating. The important parameters in powder extrusion were found to be the viscosity of the melt, the heat stability and the residence time of the blend at a given temperature. Increasing the temperature of the barrel or the screw speed and working at low feeding rate were found to cause early reactions in the coating. Moreover, the powder coating needs to be extruded at an optimum viscosity to confer a good film formation during curing. en
