Abstract:
Aim: To compare staffing, patterns of care and levels of clinical activity for Accident and Emergency Clinics (AECs) and orthodox general practices in the Waikato. Method: Data are drawn from two sources - a prior survey of the characteristics of three AECs and 79 orthodox practices in the Waikato region and an analysis of a 1 per cent sample of nearly 13,000 encounters recorded over the period 1991-1992.
