dc.description.abstract Solutions are presented for the stress concentration arising in bonded dissimilar elements weakened by a circular hole. The influence of both of the Dundurs constants (which quantify the mismatch in elastic properties of the two materials) is presented, and it is shown that the stress concentration produced is greater than that produced in an infinite body if the hole exists in the stiffer medium, and vice versa. The method of solution adopted is the distribution of dislocations around the periphery of the hole. en
