dc.description.abstract Difficulties, issues and challenges are the focus of much of family business research with very few examples of investigations into the generative characteristics they might possess. The purpose of this paper is to explore the advantages and disadvantages of utilizing an appreciative inquiry approach within the family business context by drawing on examples from a recent study that applied this protocol for investigating what works well in entrepreneurial family businesses. en
