Abstract:
With “TCSOL case-database construction” as a penetrating access, this paper conducts a systematic research on the value of applying Case Method to faculty training, and on the construction of its supporting system from the perspective of Chinese language’s globalization. This paper unfolds its contents by a logical sequence of thinking in cases’ cognition, application and development. Firstly, a diachronic study is made on the development of Case Method and its distinguishing features in different developmental phases, which are used as references to define the concept of TCSOL cases and classify it from different angles. Secondly, aiming at current situation of teacher shortage in promoting Chinese language internationally, an analysis of the occupational characteristics and development of TCSOL teachers has been made along with the discussion over the value, pattern and practical procedures in applying Case Method to the professional training of TCSOL teachers. Finally, a framework for the construction of TCSOL case-database is proposed following the principle of “joint construction with shared resources”. This paper outlines the database to be digitalized, multi-dimensional, localized, public and dynamic, and leading to effective integration of case resources and solid support to the utilization of Case Method. Personally, the author thinks it is feasible to construct TCSOL case-database in line with “one central task, two basic points”, i.e. TCSOL as the central task, facilitating faculty’s education, joint works and sharing resources, dynamic perfecting. It is a creative way of thinking not only to meet future demand for Chinese teacher’s education, but also to base its development upon current situation.
