dc.description.abstract The purpose of this thesis is to repair some of the deficiencies in the study of Wiremu Maihi Te Rangikaheke, whose manuscripts were the source of most of the prose material in the appendices to Sir George Grey's KO Ngaa Mooteatea me Ngaa Hakirara Maaori (1853), and of much of the material for his KO Ngaa Mahinga a Ngaa Tuupuna Maaori (1854), and hence of its translation, Polynesian Mythology (1855). en
