Abstract:
The freshwater larva of Triplectides obsoleta McLach., found in the lower reaches of streams, inhabits a case made, in general, from small twigs or straws. The animal passes a current of water over the tracheal gills in an anterio-posterior direction through the case as an aid to respiration by means of rhthymic undulations of the abdomen.
