dc.description.abstract | One of the most important buildings in our community is the Pub. A place in a community where people can go, relax, enjoy the corrpany of friends and drink beer. The Pub is a place where in the past people met for business, banking, committee meetings, entertainment, public gatherings, banquets, dancing, eating, justice, conflict, doctoring end in the old days, orges. The Pub was the "PUBLIC HOUSE" of the community. "It is said that we have no 'Inns', only 'Pubs'; and again, that we have no 'Pubs', only 'Hotels'. No one word is typical of all the realities which greet the present-day traveller. And may I add "present day drinker". As above all, the Pub is for beer. Although today other names are called for it, Hotel, Tavern and Inn, they are all, or should be the Public House, known as the "PUB" | en |
