dc.description.abstract A talk for students interested in the idea of art as ‘social practice’. It provides a basic vocabulary of terms for thinking about public art, whether defined as art exhibited in a public space, or art of benefit to the public, or an art practice that helps to create a new public. It also engages with theories about the local ‘space of places’ versus the global ‘space of flows’, and how these different logics of space can affect the nature and meaning of public art. en
