dc.description.abstract |
This thesis is a partial exploration of humanity as a hive-mind. “The Project of Humanity” encapsulates a collective effort to instantiate a global organism, as parts of which, individuals can hope to and survive and preserve a future safe from ultimate harm. This speculative vision of a possible future is deployed to consider unique aspects of more common philosophical subjects - primarily existential risks, normative ethics, and human enhancement. I conclude that it is plausible that under a very specific set of conditions, an integrated network of humans and their technologies would constitute a superorganism, and more, a hive-mind. |
