Abstract:
The suggestion that computer methods might be used to identify points of
conflict between sides in an argument is investigated. It is suggested that
computer assistance in moderating discussions could be a useful approach.
Initially, the computer’s function would be restricted to recording the
arguments, as any attempt at interpreting the participants’ words could lead
to further conflict. A design is suggested, and a partial implementation
reported.
