Dance, data and cultural transmission in Aotearoa: The alchemy of the laboratorium

Abstract

Dancing with data choreographs flexible relations with the world as our gestures pass from being material events to immaterial code, becoming rematerialized again through live interactive performance. Moving one space to another, from one imbalance to the next, from one dimension to another and between different cosmological understandings of the world, we negotiate these movements collaboratively, as reflexive mobilizations of technology and data. As agents of culture and agentic materialities producing aesthetic experiences, we collectively generate a sense of becoming in the midst of a break, a rupture.
