dc.description.abstract Social workers roles in disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) is recognised globally, especially in disaster response. However, the roles of social workers and social service agencies in prevention and mitigation phase where DRRM plans are formulated remains obscure. This study examines the roles of social workers in the development of a local DRRM plan by scrutinising the processes involved in the formulation of Quezon City DRRM plan 2014-2020, using key informant interviews, focus group discussion and secondary data review. As an emerging field, DRRM planning is the best arena to showcase social workers competency to engage in policy practice – an area in the social work profession which is taken for granted by most social workers. en
