Programme note: a zigzagged gaze (2017) Eve de Castro-Robinson (World Premiere) (b. 1956) “I am one link in a concatenation of responses over a century; mine to make the intangible audible. Painter Hartmann responded to life; composer Mussorgsky responded to the paintings; artist Trusttum and others have responded to their muse; their art resonates with me. Henry will in turn, interpret my music and you the listener will react. The history of art and music; a zigzagged gaze of creation and response. I think the artist, sonic or visual, is looking beyond the image or sound, like a creative astronomer grappling with the concept of infinity.” 1. Philip Trusttrum: Il Vecchio Castello (The Troubador) 2. Josephine Cachemaille: Diviner and minder 3. Rohan Wealleans: Tingler 4. Jim Speers: White Interior #1 5. Miranda Parkes: Trick-or-treater 6. Vincent Ward: Return 7. Marie Le Lievre: Blue Lady 8. Jacqueline Fahey: The Passion Flower 9. John Ward Knox: x (life, still. Baby) 10. Judy Millar: Big Pink Shimmering One |
