Abstract:
This thesis in concerned about architectures role in best creating conditions for community to strengthen, primarily focusing on homeless necessities. The aim is to explore the lives and architecture of the communities’ worst-off, subjectively being that of the chronically homeless. Improvements in the lives of the communities worst-off will encourage people to make improvements with-in their own life. Additionally, breaking down the homeless stigma will work a long way in breaking down the stigma of everyone else in-between. Strangers will be able to support each other more easily without ‘income’ or ‘appearance’ being the defining characteristic separating people. • To engage a diverse range of the Auckland community demographic. • To provide conditions and facilities for homeless people to best transition back into society. • To help other areas of the Auckland community through homeless necessities.
