Abstract:
Background:The need for research into identifying strategies to enhance psychological wellbeing (flourishing) in older adults has been called for. Whilst there is some evidence that older adults can experience increased wellbeing with age and use a number of strategies to achieve this, there is a knowledge gap when considering older adults who are also facing the challenges of living with multimorbidity. In this study we define psychological flourishing based on Selligman’s (2012) research and in relation to the five pillars of wellbeing: Positive emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning and Accomplishment (PERMA).
