Abstract:
Roger Osborne's seminal work establishes the need for teachers to connect with learner's ideas about science before teaching. The research on connecting scientists and technologists with learners is described and France argues that such connective events are far from simple and require careful detailed planning as well as understanding the epistemic connections that need to uncovered so that successful connections can be made.
