Abstract:
The design of a medical system is never “finished”, as there are always more to be done, things to improve, new drugs, new devices, and new breakthroughs. Developing a medical system, whether in space or terrestrially, requires attention to: Training practices Treatment guidelines Diagnostic resources Therapeutic resources Medical informatics ... and it is very sensitive to context: LEO mission systems will not suit Exploration mission systems. In this talk, we will discuss how these principles applied to the development of the International Space Station's medical system.
