Abstract

I have been asked to provide a report for Taiko Harris which sets out his cultural background as provided for under s. 27(1)(a) of the Sentencing Act 2002. Taiko has both Māori and European ancestry. I will set out his Māori cultural background. Before doing that, I introduce myself by setting out the authority and expertise I have to draw up such a report from within the Māori culture and from within the University of Auckland.
