Abstract:
A National Policy Statement for indigenous biodiversity (NPS) is to be developed through a stakeholder-led collaborative process. The Biodiversity Collaborative Group will also make recommendations for supporting measures for terrestrial, freshwater and coastal biodiversity on public and private lands. I was invited to deliver a presentation on mātauranga Māori to the group, to introduce what it is, and demonstrate how they might use it to inform the National Policy Statement on Indigenous Biodiversity. I have been invited to hold a full day workshop with the Biodiversity Collaborative Group.
