Abstract:
This report has been undertaken to assist the Independent Māori Statutory Board to advance discussions with the Auckland Council about marae and papakāinga maintenance and development in the Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) region. This report provides; • a review of key policy directives relevant to marae and papakāinga (nationally and regionally) • an overview of marae and papakāinga in Auckland • aspirations and opportunities identified by the Independent Māori Statutory Board • an analysis of existing contributions made by Council • a proposed workplan for advancing marae and papakāinga development
