Abstract:
In this chapter, we report on a study of patterns of information diffusion across a variety of online social networks (OSNs). Specifically, we are interested in how diffusion patterns vary based on the choice of social networking media (text versus pictures) and context (international versus national, information consumption versus resulting action by network participants). We collected data from three different examples of network sites using both media over a three week period. By examining traditional network metrics, we outline some preliminary results from our study.
