Abstract:
Chronic Rhinosinusitis is an inflammatory disease of the sinuses leading to completely obstructed breathing. In such case, endoscopic surgery is routinely performed. The surgery is complicated because of presence of nearby organs such as nerves, eye, brain etc. Using fundamental engineering principles, we study the degree of improvement in breathing after surgery. Image shows anatomy of nose, sinuses inside the face before and after surgery. Breathing is considerably improved.
