Abstract:
Despite the use of metals in buildings has a long tradition, the use of metallic coverings on facades is relatively recent. Over the past twenty years this type of facades has begun to appear in towns, along the major highways and even in non-urban places of our country. How do you configure the ratio of these volumes with the architectural landscape? What are the relationships that develop between the metal skin of the building and its context? Is there a logic design in these metal skins or is it just the application of a fashion? A research conducted within the Unit “Color and Light in Architecture” at Iuav University of Venice tries to answer these questions through a journey that leads us to view a selection of scenarios.
