Abstract:
The evidence-based medicine triad identifies best external evidence, individual clinical expertise, and patient values and expectations as integrated components. The aim of the presentation was to challenge how MRT’s react to changed clinical or professional protocols introduced without full consultation or explanation; or a differing technique brought to their clinical place by a new staff member. An example from day to day clinical practice, the PA Chest X-ray, was used to demonstrate what ‘best external evidence’ is and where it can be found in the literature. Fryback and Thornbury’s ‘Hierarchic Model of Efficacy’ was followed for this discussion.
