Abstract:
The focus on wellbeing (as opposed to illness and pathology) provides a constructivist, systems- based approach to assessment, support, treatment and intervention that recognises people’s own contexts. • In mental health services, social workers practice in multi- disciplinary teams to provide assessment, diagnosis and intervention services for children, adolescents, adults and families with mental health problems. Recovery perspectives are increasingly a dominant focus of mental health policy and service delivery and off er considerable scope for alignment with social work values, knowledge and skills, and social work practice from strengths perspectives. Service user involvement in recovery, support and intervention is paramount— ‘nothing about us without us’.
